Before and after each group’s games, I compile the teams’ betting market odds of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup’s knock-out stage.
Group H (Colombia, Poland, Senegal, Japan) produced the most surprising first-round outcomes, with all four countries switching ranks in qualifying odds. But the group’s uncertainty is expected. Serbia and Switzerland in Group E also have nearly identical odds in qualifying for the knock-out stage.
Argentina (Group D) and Germany (Group F) both stand a reasonably good chance of qualifying despite their first-round setbacks.
